Update 7/10/2009

Today I received my Pertronix Igniter ignition system and Flamethrower 40,000 Volt Coil.

I removed the stock points, and installed the Igniter, and replaced the stock coil. Had some problems with wiring, but Pertronix support, and the guys on RATSUN helped a lot.

But the real problem was she didn't want to idle after the install. Come to find out, I did not have enough adjustment in the Distributor to get the timing right. I was at the far end of the clockwise adjustment. At the recommendation of Pertronix I tried to remove the Distributor and move it one notch, but when I got it off, I noticed another adjusting bolt on the bottom allowing me to move the adjusting plate, giving me more turn. This got it close but still off a little. I removed the base plate and filed the slot a little more and now I can move the timing even further than what is needed, giving me room for adjustment in the future. She idles smooth, but I still have that darn sputtering when accelerating. I know it's the carb, I just hate to rebuild it.
